To round off our unit on properties and changes of materials, Year 5 were visited by Jenny and Isla from LUSH. They taught the children about how the concepts we have been looking at in class (such as different ways of combining materials to create revisable and irreversible changes) works on a commercial scale. As well as taking a brief look at the ethics of their company, who source natural and ethically produced products and use Fairtrade farmers.
The children then had an opportunity to make their own ‘Ickle Baby Bot’ bath bomb. Learning along the way about the properties of its ingredients and how the aromatherapy oil (which included lavender) would help to send them to sleep after their busy and productive day.
