As part of Anti-Bullying Week, Year One had joined in assemblies where the Anti-Bullying message was delivered and learned in class to distinguish and define actually what bullying is. They know bullying is:
‘more than once;
on purpose;
makes the victim feel helpless;
violence or hurting words and sometimes ganging up;
face-to-face or on the web’. (the children’s own words)
Working in small groups, children in Year One sorted written scenarios into one of three groups – those that featured RUDE, MEAN or BULLYING behaviour. They then considered the type of things a person being rude, mean or bullying might say and what a kind person might say.
