Lay a little egg for me!
Reception class have enjoyed visiting the chicks in the Nursery. We went to see the hen’s eggs in the incubator and the next day they began to hatch. We counted 11 chicks: 3 of them were girls and 8 boys. We found out that the boys are the yellow fluffy ones and the girls are fluffy but have darker feathers.
We brought them into our classroom to hold them before they went back to the farm. We described what they looked like and how they felt. Some of us didn’t want to hold them and that was fine too. We were very careful handling them and we were so gentle that they began to fall asleep.
The Nursery children looked after them really well and we are sure they will grow up to be healthy hens.
