Every year, Fellside hold a Design and Technology Challenge for children all across the school.
This year’s theme was the Angel of the North’s 20th birthday, a very momentous occasion for a world-famous North East icon. The challenge was to create a 3D textile collage to commemorate this special event, which was then to be displayed as a whole-school tapestry for years to come.
Around 80 children took part in the challenge from Nursery to Year 6 and the effort across the school was fantastic. It made the work of our judges, Women’s Institute Chairperson and Science and Technology Chair, very difficult indeed.
After much deliberation, the judges decided upon a winner from each Key Phase:
Nursery and Reception Winner – Sophie (N)
Year 1 and 2 Winner – Elliot (Y2)
Year 3 and 4 Winner – Lily (Y3)
Year 5 and 6 Winner – Martha (Y6)
These entries involved a range of techniques and captured the happy spirit of the Angel’s birthday. We were very impressed by all of the participants and cannot wait to see our tapestry when it is completed! Thank you to our judges and to all who entered their projects!
