Year One have been creating seascapes in their art lessons this week. They have used a great deal of techniques from colour washing, creating patterns with precise brush strokes to making effects with paper tearing. Elements they created were all combined in collage. How proud they were of their completed seascapes featuring a flotilla of yachts! Here they presenting their masterpieces. They have learned to define and use an array of art terms with which to discuss the paintings of seascapes they have looked at and discussed in class – fore-ground, mid-ground, background and horizon. Some noticed that objects in the background appear smaller, higher and duller in the picture and that in the fore-ground things appear larger, lower and brighter.
