Year One were set the challenge of manufacturing a moving picture with a moving mechanism which would tell a story, appeal to young children and be a seascape. Off they went to design their pictures and label their diagrams so that their teacher would know which materials they would require when following their designs. Some chose to illustrate nursery rhymes like Rub a Dub Dub; others chose the rescue scene from the Grace Darling story. Menacing sharks, graceful mermaids and even enormous tuna fish and crocodiles were included in imaginative designs. Evaluations showed the children could identify elements that were effective and those design flaws that could be altered to improve the product. Here are the children presenting their moving picture.
