Year One were keen to show off their latest creations completed in Art and Design lesson this half term – their owls fashioned in self hardening clay. Aren’t they wonderful? The children all enjoyed working in clay even though it was tougher to manipulate and roll out. The muscles in their hands were really given a work out. Once completed and laid out to dry for a few days, their owls were frequently checked upon until they were dry enough to paint with acrylic paints and arranged on a painted backdrop on which they used stippling techniques. Twigs, found in the playground woodland, paper leaves and a shiny paper moon completed their compositions.
